sidelet 0.9.5 · A notch that does two things at once

The notch shows two live activities the way a phone does, plays and pauses music under your pointer and changes songs with a swipe. Installing is a simple drag.

New

  • Two at once: when music plays while Keep Awake or a recording runs, the second one waits in a small island beside the notch. Click it to swap them.
  • Point at the notch while music plays for Play/Pause and Next, without opening it. A screen recording gets a stop button there too.
  • Swipe across the notch with two fingers for the next or the previous song.
  • Notch › Live activities: choose which ones appear. Hiding Keep Awake keeps it on — it just isn't shown.
  • Notch instead of notifications: what the notch shows, like “Claude Code finished”, doesn't also pop up in Notification Center.

Improved

  • sidelet downloads as a disk image: open it and drag sidelet to Applications.
  • Paused music stays in the notch for a minute, so you can play it again from there.

Fixed

  • Moving sidelet from Downloads to Applications no longer asks twice, and sidelet opens again after you activate it.

sidelet 0.9.4 · Wallpapers you make, and updates that find you

Make your own wallpaper in a few clicks, hear about updates without looking for them, and move sidelet to Applications in one step.

New

  • Wallpapers › Make your own: Glass, Matte, Aurora, Painted and Words styles, eight palettes or three colors of your own, and Another One for a fresh take. Everything is drawn on your Mac.
  • Set it as your wallpaper, or Save Only to keep it in your Pictures folder at your display's resolution.
  • Opened from somewhere other than Applications, sidelet offers to move itself there and checks the copy before it opens it.

Improved

  • Updates find you: sidelet checks shortly after it starts, then every hour and after sleep, and shows the update on its own. Remind Me Later waits a day for that version.
  • Allow… buttons for permissions ask macOS first, and open the right page of System Settings when macOS no longer asks.
  • Opening sidelet a second time brings the running copy to the front instead of starting another.

sidelet 0.9.3 · Radial menu, App Updates and tidier sheets

The radial menu is easier to shape, App Updates is rebuilt, and eight older sheets now match the rest of the app.

Improved

  • Radial menu: clear all slices, start over with the standard ring, and see rings for particular apps as chips you can remove.
  • Every page's “How it works” can be hidden, and it stays hidden for that page.
  • App Updates is rebuilt: updates from the App Store, Software Update and the apps themselves in one list, with search and CSV export.
  • Uninstall, Microphone Mute, Display Details, Capture Text from Image, Saved Texts, Text in Any App, Rules and Tasks have a new, clearer layout.

sidelet 0.9.2 · Menu Bar, your way

A new Menu Bar page decides what sits in the menu bar, how it looks, and which tiles open under the S.

New

  • Menu Bar page with a live preview in light and dark.
  • Fourteen menu bar items, now with AI usage, Keep Awake, Microphone and To-Do.
  • A style for each item: label over value, icon and value, just the value, a bar or a chart, with colors when something needs attention.
  • Short custom labels, and items that appear only while something is happening.

Improved

  • Build the panel under the S from tiles: drag to reorder, arrows to move one place, the red button to remove. Home keeps its own tiles.
  • “Customize Menu Bar…” in the S menu.
